Cropmark Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 21, 2026
Cropmark keeps your screenshots on your PC. It has no account, never uploads your images, and contains no advertising or analytics.
What Cropmark does with your images
Cropmark captures the screen only when you press a capture button or your capture shortcut, or when you open or paste an image. Images are processed on your PC. They are never sent to us or to anyone else.
What is saved on your PC
Cropmark saves files only where you tell it to: exported PNG, JPEG and PDF files, and project files (.shotproj).
A project file contains the full original images, including any pixels you later covered with a redaction, so share an
exported image, not a project file, when you need to hide information.
Cropmark also keeps a few things in your Windows user profile, in the ScreenshotTool folder under
%LocalAppData%:
• Settings: your theme, capture shortcut, PDF page size and saved styles.
• Recovery copies of unsaved work, so an interrupted session can be restored. These contain the original images. They are encrypted with a key that only your Windows account on that computer can unlock.
• A small error log if the app crashes. It records the type of error and the app version, with no image data and no file names. It stays on your PC and is never sent automatically.
Clipboard
When you choose Copy, the flattened image is placed on the Windows clipboard, and Cropmark asks Windows to keep it out of clipboard history and cloud sync. Other apps on your PC can still read the clipboard while the image is on it.
No accounts, ads or analytics
Cropmark has no sign-up. It contains no advertising, tracking or analytics code, and no third-party service that receives your data.
Internet use
Cropmark does not need the internet to capture, edit or export. It contacts the Microsoft Store only to check or complete a purchase.
Purchases
The optional Cropmark Pro unlock (one-time or yearly) is handled entirely by Microsoft and the Microsoft Store. Cropmark never sees your payment details. Microsoft's privacy statement applies to the purchase.
Children
Cropmark does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children.
Deleting your data
Files you exported or saved stay where you put them until you delete them. To remove everything Cropmark keeps for
itself, uninstall the app and delete the ScreenshotTool folder under %LocalAppData%.
More → Recover interrupted work also lets you delete recovery copies inside the app.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new date.
